Letter to Myself

Dear Self,

The past couple of years, you haven’t been feeling like yourself. The huge changes in your life allowed you to move the focus on yourself, onto other things. Self care became a thing of the past. As much as you preach it, you didn’t practice. You turned insecure with yourself, hating the way you look, gained weight and stopped being the outgoing person you once were. The stress of certain aspects in your life allowed you to create a shell you refused to step out of. You think you’ll never get out of the whole you dug for yourself. You feel like you’ll never look like you did before your life changed a few years ago. I need to tell you to stick to a routine. Please constantly remind yourself that you’re worth it. You need to feel like yourself again if you want to wake up every morning feeling like you have a purpose. Push yourself as hard as you possibly can, you’ve been lazy enough. Work isn’t the solely important aspect of your life. Work will always be there, you will always have time to rest but the time to push yourself is now. Every day you think about how miserable you feel about yourself. You have to be the one to change that, no one else can do that for you. Please remember that you and your mental health matter, those around you notice the changes in you and want you to feel like yourself again. Don’t be afraid to remove yourself from situations or relationships that don’t bring happiness into your life. Please remember that you matter and that happiness and loving yourself is worth fighting for each and every single day. You will make it past this time in your life. Don’t feel guilty for feeling miserable when you should be happy. Happiness comes when you are truly happy with yourself first, and without that no matter how great things are in your life you’ll never see it. I can’t wait to see what you achieve these next few months. You’re destined to do great things, but first do great for yourself. You got this.
